Features Of The Samsung Galaxy Note8
Display
Samsung has been pretty consistent with the amazing screen displays of its premium phones and the Note 8 is no exception. It comes with a gigantic edge to edge 6.3" Super AMOLED, 1440 x 2960 521 PPI and encased in a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is again, stunning, as with its other high-end siblings. Contrast ratios, sharpness, color depths and overall screen performance is one of the best to date, yet again.
Camera
Has a dual OIS 12 MP primary camera (26mm, F/1.7 & 52mm, F/2.4 aperture with 2x optical zoom). Both are equipped with image stabilization which the Galaxy S8 only has one. The qualities of its photos are gorgeous, typical for Samsung premium phones, and some even turned out way better than the subject. Secondary camera, on the other hand, is no slouch with its 8 MP, f/1.7 25mm with dual video call and Auto-HDR.
Storage
The Note 8 comes with 64/128/256 GB of internal storage and has an expandable external memory of up to 512 GB via microSD card. It has the same specs as the Galaxy S8 except for internal memory which the S8 only comes with 64 GB.
Speakers
For a phone with the biggest screen out there, it's a shame that it comes with a mono bottom firing speaker only. It is a step below the S9 with has dual stereo speakers. The sound quality is decent and loud enough though but the stereo sounds would have been a perfect match to go with its giant screen.
Biometric Features
The Galaxy Note 8 has a fingerprint sensor located at the back, an iris scanner, a face scanner and swipe/pin unlock - a Samsung standard for its premium phones. It is worth noting though that the Note 8 fingerprint sensor has the same problems as the S8. It located way up high and is situated beside the camera which makes it prone to smudges and is difficult to reach.
Processor
Depending on the country (USA/China), the Note 8 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or the Exynos 8895 Octa. Both have 8 cores which means it is very capable of handling a multitude of tasks with ease. It is quick and smooth with very minimal lag and should give you a pleasant navigation experience. Bench scores show that the Note 8 goes head to head with the S8 and S8+ in performance.
Battery Life
Considering its size, the Note 8 packs a rather small 3300 mAh battery but endurance reviews have been impressive though. Talk time over 3G can last up to 12 hours, music up to 74 hours and video playback at 16 hours. It's predecessor, the infamous Note 7, however, was taken out of the market due to faulty batteries that kept bursting into flames while on charge. The Note 8 also comes with wireless charging and fast charge.
Water Resistance
This phone is rated IP68, the same as the S8, which means it is dust- and water-resistant with depths of up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
