Features Of The Samsung Galaxy S9
The Galaxy S9 is equipped with a 5.8" Super AMOLED (16M colors) screen technology and spits out 1440 x 2960 pixels. It has retained its distinctive infinity curved edge to edge amazing screen. Coming from the higher spectrum of mobile devices, this phone has the best screen display out there in the market and is typical of Samsung premium phones. It has the same screen specs as it older version, the S8.
The Galaxy S9's camera is a big upgrade from that of the S8's as they have rethought how they built it and placed in a number of improvements and powerful features. It has 12 MP with a variable aperture of f/1.5-f/2.4 and optical stabilization as its primary camera. It can record up to 4K videos and slow motion at a time freezing 960fps. Its secondary camera has an 8 MP with an aperture of f/1.7. Its older version, the S8 also has the 12 MP camera with f/1.7 aperture and has the same selfie camera specs.
For storage, the S9 comes with 64/128/256 GB variants with 4 GB RAM and an expandable memory slot of up to 512 GB via microSD. While the S8 only comes in at 64 GB, 4 GB RAM but also supports microSD of up to 512 GB.
The S9 has dual stereo speakers with one front facing located at the earpiece and the other is bottom firing near the mouthpiece. It is equipped with the Dolby Atmos technology and it sounds crisp, loud and gives off a more three-dimensional sound effects. On the other hand, the S8 has a single mono speaker that fires from the bottom.
The Galaxy S9 has triple sensors, the fingerprint reader, facial scanner and iris scanner. The fingerprint reader is located at the back and works well as expected. Samsung did an amazing job with its face and iris scanner as it now works at the same time for a more accurate and faster recognition. Unlike the S8's face and iris scanner which only works one at a time.
This device runs on Exynos 9810 Octa - EMEA Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845 with 8 cores. It's fast, smooth and is well capable of handling multiple apps at the same time. The S8 uses the less powerful Exynos 8895 Octa - EMEA Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 but performance wise shows not much of a difference.
The S9 uses the same 3,000 mAh battery the S8 has which is pretty decent for its size. It can hold conversations for up to 22:38 hours using 3G, 10:13 hours web browsing and video playback of up to 15:12 hours.
This phone is rated IP68, the same as the S8, which means it is dust- and water-resistant with depths of up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
