Measuring 6.4" premium screen, the Note 9 has a marvelous AMOLED real estate. It still has the infinity 1440 x 2960 PPI display encased in a Corning Gorilla glass 5. Screen performance is still the best in its class. While the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has the smaller 6.3" display but has the same 1440 x 2960 pixels.
Has a dual OIS 12 MP primary camera (f/1.5-2.4, 26mm (wide) and a telephoto F2.4, 52mm) both with image stabilizers. The front camera comes with an 8MP wide-angle lens with autofocus. It is capable of recording up to 4K videos. A new addition to its features is an AI optimizer that tweaks certain aspects of a photo.
The Galaxy Note 9 comes with a 128/512 GB internal space with support for up to 1 terabyte of expandable storage. While the Galaxy Note 8 comes with 64/128/256GB of internal storage with support for of up to 512GB via microSD card.
This phone has dual speakers stereo speakers, a great upgrade from its predecessor. It has a downward firing speaker and another located at the earpiece. Sound quality is great and loud even in noisy environments.
This phone comes with an iris scanner and a rear mounted fingerprint reader. Both sensors worked great and fast. But, the location of its fingerprint reader is still way up and is difficult to reach.
The Galaxy Note 9 comes with either a Snapdragon 845 or the Exynos 9810 (depending on region). Both have 8 cores running to match the most demanding apps or heavy use. Performance is snappy with very minimal lag as expected from premium phones. While the Note 8 comes with the Snapdragon 835 or the Exynos 8895 where both of which has 8 cores also.
The Note 9 packs a 4000 mAh all day battery. It supports wireless charging and quick charge. This is a huge upgrade from Note 8 which has the 3300 mAh. Talk time over 3G network can last for up to 28:13 hours, web browsing 12:36 hours and video playback for 16:45 hours.
This phone has an IP68 rating which means it is dust and water resistant with depths of up to 1.5 meters for 30 mins.
