The verdict, & two little voices

Should you actually get Unlimited?

Our takeEditorial
A $25 single-line deal on two networks, but 512 kbps after 30 GB is dial-up territory, and there's no hotspot.
UpPhone Team
The Optimist
“Two networks, no contract, $25 with AutoPay — the math works for a light single line.”
— the angel on your shoulder
The Cynic
“Throttled to 512 kbps and no hotspot? Boost is selling 'unlimited' with a very tight fine print definition.”

Our review

Boost Mobile Unlimited is the entry-level unlimited tier on Boost's network, which means you're getting access to both AT&T and T-Mobile towers depending on what's around you.

At $25 a month with AutoPay ($30 without), that's a credible single-line price for unlimited talk, text, and data — but there's a ceiling. The plan cuts to 512 kbps after 30 GB of high-speed data, which is about dial-up territory. Downloads take forever.

Video buffers. Music might stream at low quality. The plan also excludes hotspot entirely and covers no international calls, texts, or data.

This is also single-line only — Boost's multi-line discounts apply to Unlimited+ and Unlimited Premium, not this tier. If the household needs multiple lines, this isn't the right entry point.

What we love
  • AutoPay brings the price to $25/mo, which is competitive for unlimited on a dual-network MVNO. Access to both AT&T and T-Mobile towers gives broader coverage than a single-network MVNO. Month-to-month, no contract, no ETF. The 30 GB high-speed cap is serviceable for moderate data users.
What we don't
  • After 30 GB, speeds drop to 512 kbps — slower than most 3G connections. No hotspot at all. No international coverage of any kind. Single-line only: multi-line discounts require upgrading to Unlimited+ or Unlimited Premium. Taxes and fees are not included in the listed price. As an MVNO, Boost sits below Boost's own postpaid customers in network priority during congestion.

Frequently asked questions about Unlimited

What features does Unlimited include?
The plan includes unlimited talk and text, plus data capped at LTE speeds for the first 30 GB. LTE access is listed as the primary feature. No Wi-Fi calling details are specified. No hotspot is included. No international features. AutoPay discount of $5/mo is available. No SIM fee or activation fee listed.
How much data, talk, and text does Unlimited include?
Unlimited talk and text. Data is technically unlimited but high-speed is capped at 30 GB per month. After 30 GB, speeds drop to 512 kbps for the rest of the billing cycle. That's roughly 0.5 Mbps — slower than most home broadband connections from 2005. Standard definition video streaming typically requires around 3 Mbps, so sustained video at reduced speeds isn't realistic.
What is the network speed on Unlimited?
High-speed LTE access up to 30 GB per month. After 30 GB, the plan throttles to 512 kbps for the remainder of the billing month. At 512 kbps, basic texting apps and very light web browsing will function, but video streaming, app updates, and navigation with live data will be noticeably degraded. The 30 GB high-speed cap resets at the start of each billing cycle.
Does Unlimited include mobile hotspot?
No hotspot is included on this plan. Boost's base Unlimited tier does not support mobile hotspot. If hotspot access is needed, the Unlimited+ or Unlimited Premium tiers include it.
What happens if you exceed your data on Unlimited?
There are no overage charges — data doesn't cut off at 30 GB, it throttles to 512 kbps. So the data never stops, it just slows to a crawl. No additional fees are assessed for exceeding the high-speed cap.
Does Unlimited require a contract?
Month-to-month, no annual contract. No early termination fee. The plan is prepaid — no credit check required. Billing is monthly with AutoPay.
