Google Fi Flexible is a pay-per-GB plan in an era of unlimited plans, and it makes a specific kind of sense: for someone who uses 1-3 GB per month, the math works out to $30-50/mo on T-Mobile and US Cellular towers with no contract and genuinely excellent international coverage.
For anyone who uses 5-6 GB, the bill reaches $70-80/mo - territory where flat-rate unlimited plans deliver more predictability. The 'Bill Protection' feature caps the monthly data charge at a specific ceiling per user, after which remaining data for the month is free but slowed to 256 kbps. That ceiling is $6 GB for a single line, meaning the maximum data bill (before protection kicks in) is $80/mo for one person, plus the $20 base.
