A $10 basic phone on Straight Talk and Verizon - 4G voice and text, nothing more.
The Orbic Journey V launched in 2020 as one of the lowest-cost 4G phones available on the US market, and at $9.99 on Straight Talk it still holds that distinction in 2026. The 2.8-inch 240 x 320 display, proprietary OS, Snapdragon 210 processor at 1.1 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, and 2 MP rear camera are all floor-level specifications by any measure. The 1400 mAh battery is the smallest in this group. What this phone does: make and receive phone calls, send and receive texts, on 4G LTE. It does not do WhatsApp, YouTube, Google Maps, or much else beyond the built-in calling and messaging functions. The proprietary OS is not Android and does not have an app ecosystem. On Straight Talk it is a near-free backup phone, an emergency secondary device, or a first phone for a young child supervised by a parent. On Verizon it costs more but provides the same network coverage. The 5W charging and absence of wireless charging mean even its small battery takes a while to fill. In 2026 context, the hardware is five years old. The value case rests entirely on the price: ten dollars for a working 4G LTE phone.
