Our take

The Fold6 brought a wider inner display and brighter panel - now available well below launch price and worth the consideration.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 was Samsung's 2024 book-fold foldable, with two meaningful improvements over the Fold5: a slightly wider inner display at 7.6 inches with a wider aspect ratio, and a jump to 2600 nit peak brightness on the inner panel. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 replaced the Gen 2, and the overall weight dropped by 14g to 239g. The camera system retained the 50 MP main, 12 MP ultrawide, and 3x telephoto arrangement. Android 15 is available via update.

As of May 2026, the Z Fold6 is available at Verizon for $546.99 - well below its original $1,799.99 launch price. At $547, the value math changes dramatically. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is only one generation behind current chips. The 2600 nit inner display is properly bright. The 4400 mAh battery and 25W charging remain unchanged from the Fold5, which is the primary hardware limitation. For a buyer attracted to the book-fold form factor, the Z Fold6 at $547 is one of the more interesting deals in the Android market right now.

What we love
  • Priced at $546.99 - dramatically below launch price
  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with 12 GB RAM - one generation behind current
  • 2600 nit inner display is properly bright
  • 7.6-inch inner display with wider aspect ratio than Fold5
  • 50 MP main + 3x telephoto camera system
  • IP48 rated for splash protection
  • 4W reverse wireless charging
What we don't
  • IP48 provides limited dust protection - weaker than IP67 or IP68 on slab flagships
  • 4400 mAh battery and 25W charging were weak at launch and remain so
  • 4 MP under-display selfie camera is notably low resolution
  • Fold crease is visible and tangible on the inner display
  • Only available at AT&T and Verizon

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6

What kind of display does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 have?
The Z Fold6 features a 6.3-inch cover screen and a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED inner display at 2160 x 1856 px with 120 Hz refresh rate and 2600 nit peak brightness. The wider aspect ratio compared to the Fold5 makes the phone more comfortable for typing and app use. The 2600 nit brightness is the key display improvement over the Fold5 and handles direct sunlight. The foldable crease running vertically down the center of the inner display is present and visible under certain lighting. The 120 Hz refresh rate keeps scrolling smooth.
What kind of camera does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 have?
The three-camera system matches the Fold5 in hardware: 50 MP main, 12 MP ultrawide, 12 MP 3x telephoto. The main sensor benefits from Samsung's ProVisual Engine processing. The telephoto covers portraits and mid-distance shots. There are two selfie options: a 10 MP cover screen camera for phone mode and a 4 MP under-display camera in tablet mode. The 4 MP under-display camera is noticeably lower resolution than the 10 MP cover option. Galaxy AI editing tools are available through the gallery. Camera hardware is one generation behind the Z Fold7.
What is the battery life of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6?
4400 mAh with 25W wired charging is an unchanged spec from the Fold5 and a weak point for a dual-display device. A full charge takes over 90 minutes. Wireless at 15W handles overnight charging. Reverse wireless at 4W covers accessories. At $547, the battery limitation is easier to accept than at the $1,799 launch price. Heavy inner-display use shortens the day; lighter phone-mode use extends it.
What processor does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 use?
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy SM8650-AC is one generation behind the current 8 Elite. It remains fast for all everyday workloads and handles the multitasking demands of the Fold6's dual-display setup without issue. Gaming and camera processing are smooth. The 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM is adequate for tablet-mode multitasking with multiple windows open.
How much storage does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 have?
256 GB UFS 3.1 internal storage. No microSD expansion. Standard for Samsung foldables. Tablet-mode use with larger apps and media libraries can consume storage faster than phone-only use patterns.
What kind of speakers does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 have?
Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. The Fold6's larger chassis allows better acoustic performance than a clamshell, and the setup suits tablet-mode video consumption well. Volume and clarity are solid for the category.
Does the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 support fingerprint or face unlock?
Side-mounted fingerprint sensor in the power button handles primary authentication reliably across both phone-mode and tablet-mode orientations. Face unlock using the cover screen camera is available as a supplement. Both methods work with Samsung Pay.
Is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 water-resistant?
IP48 covers splash and light rain, plus immersion up to 1.5 m in fresh water for 30 minutes. The '4' dust rating means particles larger than 1 mm are blocked but fine dust is not. Foldable hinges are inherently more exposed to particulate ingress than sealed slab phones. For typical use the protection is adequate; dusty or sandy environments carry more risk.
