Forget Your AirPods As A Bluetooth Device

1 min read

When your iPhone connects to a Bluetooth accessory, it saves that accessory to make future connections easier. You can see which Bluetooth devices your iPhone has saved in the “My Devices” list in Bluetooth Settings.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Bluetooth.
  3. Under My Devices, locate your AirPods.
  4. Tap the blue “i” icon next to your AirPods.
  5. Tap Forget This Device.
  6. Tap Forget Device to confirm.

Why this works:

Sometimes, Bluetooth connections can become corrupted. When this happens, it can cause problems that interfere with your ability to use Bluetooth on your iPhone. If you’re having trouble with your AirPods, this might be the reason.

Forgetting your AirPods and reconnecting them to your iPhone can give both devices the chance to form a fresh connection. This is a quick and easy step that can resolve a number of Bluetooth malfunctions.

Pro tip:

  • These steps work on iPad and iPod Touch as well!
  • To reconnect your AirPods, put them in their charging case. Then, open the charging case lid and hold them next to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
