Reset Your HomePod

1 min read
  1. Remove your HomePod from its source of power.
  2. Wait a few seconds.
  3. Plug your HomePod back into power.
  4. Once it starts powering on again, press and hold the top of your HomePod.
  5. Wait for the white light in a spinning motion to turn red.
  6. Continue pressing down on the top of your HomePod until you hear it emit three tones.

Why this works:

Sometimes restarting your HomePod isn’t enough. If the software malfunction is significant enough, it might be necessary to reset the device completely to get rid of the problem.

Luckily, this process is not particularly difficult to complete.

Pro tip:

Even if it takes a while, keep holding down the top of your HomePod until it emits the beeps signifying the reset. If you remove your finger too early, the reset will not complete and you’ll need to redo this step completely.
