Soft Reset Your Google Pixel

A soft reset, also known as a force restart, is an easy troubleshooting step that can resolve a wide array of Google Pixel malfunctions.

1. Press and hold the Power button.
2. Continue holding until your Pixel displays a choice of 3 actions.
3. Select Restart.
4. Give your pixel a few minutes to power off, then back on.

Or

1. Press and hold the Power and Volume down buttons simultaneously.
2. Keep holding both of these buttons until your pixel powers down.
3. Give your phone a little time to power back on.

Why this works:

Not only is a soft reset a surprisingly effective fix for a lot of software errors, but it only takes a few minutes. It’s worth attempting before taking on any of the more complex troubleshooting options we suggest down the line.
