Discounts For Nurses
Verizon and AT&T began offering cell phone plan discounts for nurses in 2020. These discounts apply to select unlimited data plans.
For example, let's take a look at Verizon's Play More Unlimited Plan. With the nurses discount, this plan starts at $70 / month per line, down from $80 / month. However, when adding four lines, each line costs $40 / month (down from $45 / month per line). That's a total savings of $20 per month!
Does T-Mobile Offer A Discount For Nurses?
No, T-Mobile does not offer a discount for nurses. State and local law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical response personnel, pensioned retirees as well as parents, children, or spouses of first responders killed in the line of duty are eligible for T-Mobile's Magenta First Responder plans.
While nurses aren't explicitly eligible, you may be able to qualify for the discount if you're a nurse with EMT certification.
What Nurses Need In A Phone Plan

It's also important to get a cell phone plan with enough data to get you through the month. Currently, carriers only offer discounts for nurses on select unlimited data plans. Unfortunately, even with the discount factored in, those plans can be quite expensive. If you're on a budget, you may be better off going with a cheaper prepaid plan. Verizon Play More Unlimited
The Verizon Do More Unlimited Plan includes unlimited talk, text, and data with a 50 GB high-speed (4G and 5G) data cap. Your data speeds may be slowed after you've exceeded the 50 GB data cap. 25 GB of premium mobile hotspot is included too, with speeds possibly being throttled when Verizon's network is congested. Subscriptions for Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ are included with this plan too!
AT&T Unlimited Extra
AT&T's Unlimited Extra Plan comes with 50 GB of “premium data.” Once you've used that 50 GB allotment, your data speeds may be throttled. Unlimited minutes, unlimited messages, 15 GB of mobile hotspot, and 5G access are also included.
This plan has excellent international features. Unlimited talk, text, and data in Canada and Mexico as well as unlimited texting to more than 200 countries are included with this plan.
This plan starts at $75 / line, but the cost per line comes down when you add more lines to your plan. After autopay and paperless billing discounts are applied, you'll receive 25% off the total cost of your plan.
Tello Mobile Value Plan
The Tello Mobile Value Plan offers unlimited messages, unlimited minutes, and 2 GB of cellular data for just $14 / month. Any data you don't use rolls over to the next month.
Tello Mobile is a T-Mobile mobile virtual network operator (MVNO). This means you'll have coverage on one of the nation's best wireless networks. T-Mobile is currently the leader in 5G, and Tello's Value Plan includes access to that network.
While this plan doesn't include a discount for nurses, it's a great deal, and you don't have to sign a contract.
Verizon 5 GB Prepaid Plan
Though the Verizon 5 GB Prepaid Plan doesn't include a nurse's discount, it's worth taking a look at because it's a great deal. This plan includes unlimited minutes, unlimited messages, 5 GB of high-speed data (4G and 5G), and mobile hotspot access. You can continue to use unlimited low-speed data if you exceed your monthly data allotment.
This plan starts at $35 / month when you enroll in autopay and paperless billing. After three months, the price drops to $30 / month, and after nine months, it drops to $25 / month. It pays to be a loyal Verizon subscriber!
The Visible Wireless Plan
If you need unlimited data, but want to save some money, we highly recommend Visible's plan. It includes unlimited minutes, messages, and data (including 5G) for as little as $25 / month when you add three or more people to your Party.
Visible is owned and operated by Verizon, meaning you'll have access to one of the nation's top wireless networks. This plan is ideal for families of four or a group of friends or roommates who want unlimited data. Unlike traditional multi-line plans, each person in the Party is responsible for paying their own plan.
