It comes with a large 6.2" Super AMOLED 16M color screen that spits out 1440x2960 pixels. It has the Samsung distinctive infinity display with a beautifully curved edge. The quality of its screen is top notch where colors are more vivid with an excellent dynamic range which is typical for Samsung premium phones. It's older brother, the S7, has the much smaller 5.1" Super AMOLED 16M color screen.
This device is equipped with a 12 MP f/1.7 main camera that can capture videos up to 4K@30fps. Its secondary camera is an 8 MP f/1.7 that support videos up to 1440@30fps. While the Galaxy S7 has the 12 MP f/1.7 main camera and a 5 MP f/1.7 secondary camera.
The S8 Plus has the 64/128 storage capacity and supports expandable memory of up to 512 GB via microSD. The S7, on the other hand, has the 34/64 GB variants and supports expandable memory of up to 256 GB via microSD.
This device is equipped with a loud single, a bottom-firing speaker that produces good quality sound but in mono. The S7 has the same mono and bottom-firing speaker.
You can unlock the S8 Plus in three ways, the fingerprint reader, iris scanner and facial recognition. The fingerprint reader is located at the back which is located way up high and difficult to reach. The iris scanner and the face scanner works independently of each other, which means that you can use one sensor at a time. While the S7 has a fingerprint reader embedded in the home button.
The Galaxy S8 Plus is powered by an Exynos 8895 Octa - EMEA (USA) and Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 (China). With this, the phone is snappy, smooth and is very well capable of handling heavy use. While the S7 has the dated Exynos 8890 Octa.
This phone is equipped with a huge 3500 mAh battery which is more than enough to meet the demands of this huge phone. Bench test shows that it can hold a conversation for up to 23:43 hours over 3 G network, web browsing 12:16 hours and video playback for up to 16:03 hours. Lastly, it supports wireless charging and quick charge. The S7, on the other hand, has the smaller 3000 mAh which also decent for its size.
This phone is rated IP68, the same as S7, which means it is dust- and water-resistant with depths of up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
