google pixel 5 wont ring fix

My Google Pixel 5 Won’t Ring! Here’s The Fix.

You've been using the Google Pixel 5 for a while now, and one problem that you've noticed is that it won't alert you when you receive calls. Perhaps you've missed a few calls, or maybe you never receive a notification when someone calls you. In this article, I'll explain why your Google Pixel 5 won't ring and show you how to fix the problem for good!

Unknown Callers May Be Silenced

In a recent update for Google Pixel 5 phones, Google's automated their Call Screen function. This feature's designed to reduce the number of spam calls Pixel users receive by blocking unknown phone numbers from your device's ringer.

Call Screen used to be a setting you could adjust to your preference, but in one of the latest updates to the Google Pixel line's operating system, it now filters your calls automatically. While there is an aspect of Call Screen that does allow your phone to ring if Google determines the unknown number isn't a robot, it's still possible that your Google Pixel 5 mistook an unknown number as spam.

If you missed a call from an unfamiliar number, even if you'd been expecting it, Call Screen might be the reason why.

Turn Off Silent Mode

Another common explanation for why your Google Pixel 5 won't ring is because it's on Silent Mode. While this might seem like an obvious reason, it's pretty easy to accidentally turn Silent Mode on or off without even realizing.

To turn Silent Mode off, or to check if it's enabled at all, press either volume button on the right side of your phone. Check the sound icon that appears on your screen, if you see the ringer icon with a line through it, Silent Mode is currently on. Press this icon to turn Silent Mode back off.

Turn Ringer Up All The Way

Sometimes, even if your Google Pixel 5 is set to ring, the volume's set too low to be audible.

To adjust your ringer's volume, press a volume button, then select the Settings icon to the right of your display. You'll be brought to a page with sliders for your Ring, Media and Call volumes. Drag the slider under Ring Volume to the right to increase how loud your phone will ring when receiving calls.

Turn Off Do Not Disturb Mode

If your Google Pixel 5 is currently set to Do Not Disturb, it will not ring when you receive a call.

To check if your device is currently in Do Not Disturb Mode, or to turn that setting off, swipe down from the top of the screen. Tap the Do Not Disturb icon to turn the feature on or off.

Clean Out The Charging Port

Sometimes, dirt, lint or other small materials can get lodged into your charging port. When this occurs, it's possible that your Pixel 5 might interpret this material as headphones plugged in.

If your phone believes that headphones have been plugged in, it will not Ring as you'd expect it to. To see if there's anything in your charging port that shouldn't be, shine a flashlight into it. Take a close look at the port, do you see any obstructive materials? If so, grab an antistatic brush (for example, a clean tooth brush if you have one laying around) and lightly clean out the port.

Repair Options

If you've tried every other fix we've suggested and your Pixel 5 still won't ring when called, it's possible that one of its components is broken. If this is the case, your best bet is to reach out to Google to inquire about repair options.

Visit Google's Repair Center, where you can get in touch with experts who can give you further advice. Information about various malfunctions a Pixel 5 can experience is also available on this website.
