A Factory Reset is the most comprehensive way to reset an Android phone. It will remove all of your personal data and settings from the device, reverting it back to how it comes out of the box.

Why Should I Factory Reset My Google Pixel?

A Factory Reset is generally one of the last resorts we recommend for fixing a cell phone. It's possible that the reset will erase any glitching code that's preventing the phone from working properly. The hope is that, once the reset's complete, you'll be able to restore your data and your Pixel will be working properly again.

How Do I Factory Reset My Google Pixel?

  1. Plug your Pixel into a charger.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Tap Advanced.
  4. Tap Reset Options.
  5. Select Erase All Data (Factory Reset).
  6. Tap Reset Phone.
  7. Enter your security code, password, or PIN.
  8. Tap Erase Everything.
  9. Once your data's erased, tap Restart.
  10. Select Restore From Backup, then select the backup you made before performing the reset.

Pro Tips

  • Before initiating the Factory Reset process, you'll want to make sure you backup all of your essential data to an external storage space. For the Google Pixel, we recommend uploading all of your photos, videos, and documents to Google Drive. When you log back into your Google account after the reset, all of your data should automatically restore from there.
