Backup Your Google Pixel

Backing up your cell phone is a great way to ensure that, no matter what, all of your important data will be preserved. People usually backup their devices to some form of cloud storage, an external hard drive, or a computer. For the Google Pixel line, we recommend backing up directly to Google Drive.

How To Set Your Pixel To Automatically Backup Your Data:

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap System.
3. Tap Backup.
4. Turn on Automatic Backup.

How To Backup Your Data Manually

1. Open Google Drive on your Pixel.
2. Tap the + (add) icon.
3. Tap Upload.
4. Tap Upload Files.
5. Select each file you’d like to upload.

Why this works:

Some of the more advanced troubleshooting steps for Android phones require pretty significant resets of the device’s data and settings. Saving an external backup of the important information you keep on your cell phone will guarantee that you can access it even if it gets erased.

Pro tip:

The Automatic Backup feature comes pre-installed on most Android phones. If you decide to disable this feature, all of the data it’s backed up previously will get erased.
